arXiv:2610.22333v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: Large language models (LLMs) can often tell when they are being tested. This ability, known as evaluation awareness, can lead models to act more cautiously during safety evaluations than in real use. Existing work has studied evaluation awareness almos
arXiv:2610.15705v1 Announce Type: cross Abstract: India's Eighth Schedule recognises 22 languages, yet parallel data is uneven across them, and many language pairs, especially among lower-resource languages such as Bodo, Dogri, Santali and Kashmiri, lack direct bitext. We present BharatSetu 22-Indic
arXiv:2610.15373v1 Announce Type: cross Abstract: We adapted Nemotron-3-Nano-30B-A3B for eight Indian languages without changing its backbone architecture. We expanded the vocabulary in place from 131,072 to 163,072 entries using continued byte-pair encoding and AdaptMix rebalancing, reducing tokens
arXiv:2610.15371v1 Announce Type: cross Abstract: Gnani-Evon-v3.3-30B-A3B is a long-context hybrid Mamba-Transformer mixture-of-experts model for reasoning, instruction following, and tool use in English and eight Indian languages. Starting from NVIDIA's Nemotron-3-Nano-30B-A3B checkpoint, it retain
arXiv:2610.08159v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: COMET reports translation quality as a single number, and that number is routinely compared across target languages written in different scripts. Such a comparison assumes Script Invariance: the score should not depend on the writing system that carrie
arXiv:2609.28826v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: Machine translation (MT) for Indian languages remains constrained by the limited availability of high-quality, Indic-centric parallel corpora and evaluation benchmarks. Existing multilingual resources are largely constructed from English-pivot content
arXiv:2608.16344v4 Announce Type: replace Abstract: Indic quality estimation (QE) and automatic post-editing (APE) data is spread across separate releases, so no single resource supports training and evaluation across tasks and language pairs on one footing. We consolidate the WMT 2020-2024 shared-t
arXiv:2609.05661v1 Announce Type: cross Abstract: We present Srijika, a system for producing installable OpenType fonts for nine Brahmic scripts: Devanagari, Tamil, Bengali, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Gujarati, Gurmukhi, and Odia. Rather than generating fonts from scratch, Srijika restyles glyph ou
arXiv:2609.01788v1 Announce Type: cross Abstract: Real-world communication often requires pragmatic reasoning: interpreting meanings implied through context and cultural convention rather than stated literally. Existing pragmatic evaluation remains largely limited to English and high-resource langua
arXiv:2608.16344v2 Announce Type: replace Abstract: Indic quality estimation (QE) and automatic post-editing (APE) data is spread across separate releases, so no single resource supports training and evaluation across tasks and language pairs on one footing. We consolidate the WMT 2020--2024 shared-
arXiv:2604.09094v2 Announce Type: replace-cross Abstract: Abusive and hateful speech is increasingly spoken rather than written, surfacing in voice notes, calls, and short-form videos. Most detection systems still transcribe speech to text before classifying it, but transcription is unreliable for l
arXiv:2607.23242v1 Announce Type: cross Abstract: Large Language Models (LLMs) have transformed conversational AI, yet high-quality multilingual code-mixed dialogue resources remain scarce, particularly for Indic languages where speakers naturally alternate between English and their native language
arXiv:2607.23808v1 Announce Type: cross Abstract: In this work, we introduce Indic DiarBench, a speaker diarization and ASR benchmark dataset spanning all 22 scheduled languages of India. This corpus comprises approximately 108 hours of natural multi-speaker audio from near-field meetings, far-field
arXiv:2606.13572v2 Announce Type: replace-cross Abstract: Multimodal Large Language Models (MLLMs) have shown promising reasoning capabilities in general domains, yet their performance remains limited in specialized settings such as healthcare, especially in multilingual and low-resource scenarios.
arXiv:2606.30790v1 Announce Type: cross Abstract: Romanized Code Mixing (RCM), where bilingual speakers fluidly blend local languages with English in Roman script, has emerged as the dominant form of communication across multilingual communities. While Large Language Models (LLMs) perform strongly o
arXiv:2606.29024v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: IndicTrans2 is the strongest open English to Indic translation system, but like most systems it is trained on general text and tends to sound stiff on casual, conversational input. We adapt IndicTrans2-1B to conversational register across all 21 Indic
arXiv:2605.20712v2 Announce Type: replace-cross Abstract: Automatic speech recognition replaces typing only when correction costs less than manual entry - a threshold determined by error types, not counts: fixing a misrecognized domain term costs far more than inserting a comma. Word error rate (WER
arXiv:2605.13087v2 Announce Type: replace-cross Abstract: Fine-tuning multilingual ASR models like Whisper for low-resource languages often improves read speech but degrades spontaneous audio performance. To diagnose this mismatch, we introduce Vividh-ASR, a complexity-stratified benchmark for Hindi
arXiv:2606.19157v2 Announce Type: replace-cross Abstract: AudioLLMs enable speech recognition conditioned on textual prompts such as domain descriptions or entity lists. However, it remains unclear whether these models genuinely utilise such context or rely on parametric knowledge learned during pre
arXiv:2606.24172v1 Announce Type: cross Abstract: More than a billion people communicate in Indic languages, yet the natural language processing infrastructure serving them remains fragmented and underdeveloped. The cause is structural: the field organizes its tools and benchmarks around individual
arXiv:2606.02548v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: Word Error Rate (WER) is the dominant metric for automatic speech recognition (ASR), but it can overestimate errors when references and hypotheses encode the same words in different scripts. This issue is common in multilingual settings where ASR model
arXiv:2605.29379v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: We present BrahmicTokenizer-131K, a 131,072-vocabulary byte-level BPE tokenizer that closes the Brahmic compression gap at the 131K-vocabulary class while preserving the English, EU-language, and code compression of OpenAI's o200k_base. We construct it
arXiv:2605.22380v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: In recent years social media has become an increasingly popular tool for communication. People use it to share their ideas, exchange information, and discuss thoughts. Given its prevalence and widespread reach, social media must remain a safe space for
arXiv:2605.13292v1 Announce Type: cross Abstract: Most existing medical dialogue systems operate in a single-turn question--answering paradigm or rely on template-based datasets, limiting conversational realism and multilingual applicability. We introduce IndicMedDialog, a parallel multi-turn medica
arXiv:2605.11993v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: Movie subtitle translation is inherently multimodal, yet text-only systems often miss visual cues needed to convey emotion, action, and social nuance, especially for low-resource Indic languages (English to Hindi, Bengali, Telugu, Tamil and Kannada). W
arXiv:2605.03073v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: Niche-domain Indic ASR -- digit strings, currency amounts, addresses, brand names, English/Indic codemix -- is under-served by both open-source SOTA and commercial systems. On a synthesised entity-dense Telugu test set (held-out by synthesis system), v
arXiv:2605.00777v1 Announce Type: cross Abstract: A speaker encoder used in multilingual voice cloning should treat the same speaker identically regardless of which script the audio was uttered in. Off-the-shelf encoders do not, and the failure is accent-conditional. On a 1043-pair Western-accented
arXiv:2604.25441v1 Announce Type: cross Abstract: Commercial TTS systems produce near-native Indic audio, but the best open-source bases (Chatterbox, Indic Parler-TTS, IndicF5) trail them on measured phonological dimensions, and the most widely adopted multilingual base (Chatterbox, 23 languages) do
arXiv:2604.25476v1 Announce Type: cross Abstract: Standard text-to-speech (TTS) evaluation measures intelligibility (WER, CER) and overall naturalness (MOS, UTMOS) but does not quantify accent. A synthesiser may score well on all four yet sound non-native on features that are phonemic in the target
